EXPLANATION OF IDEA
Home from home . . . . from home is a design for the new constituency home of Hazel Blears MP. The dwelling can be sited in any of the redundant infill sites that litter the estates of Salford. The residence sits proud of its terraced row in a gesture to the importance of the responsibility of the vendor within. The windows and doors of the property have a common contextual appearance that they are screed with steel perforated sheets that read: All materials have been removed.

This is however not a condemned building but merely a shell. Spaces have been stripped of all material possessions. These empty spaces promote a sense of contemplation, reflection and humbleness.
